Mouvement assets rose from 2.8 billion to 2.9 billion as of December 31, 2009, which was an increase of 80 million, or 3%. At the end of the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2009, the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes, the largest Acadian financial institution, announced surplus earnings before taxes, dividends and other items of $36 million, as compared to $21 million in 2008.
